Way to go Kids – Pediatric Weight Management
A weight management program for children who are currently overweight or at risk for overweight. Interactive sessions cover nutrition, behavior, and exercise principles. Session topics include: basic nutrition, planning healthy meals and snacks, label reading, physical activity, healthy attitudes, and more. Each session is tailored to the child and family, with goal-setting and short assignments between visits to reinforce the goals.
High Cholesterol and Other Lipid Abnormalities
Complete evaluation to identify nutrition interventions that may lower cholesterol or triglyceride levels, or otherwise improve overall health. We will discuss specific food recommendations, dietary fat intake, recipe modifications, physical activity, and dining out as warranted by our clients’ unique circumstances. Individual and family sessions available.
Food Allergies and Sensitivities
We will help you plan a well-rounded diet that meets your needs while avoiding those foods that cause problems. We will provide a list of local resources for purchasing specialty food items, ingredient tip sheets, sample menus, etc. Additional training available for grocery store tour.
GI disorders
We will provide nutrition guidelines specific to your GI disorder that allow you maximize your nutrient intake while avoiding problem foods.
Autism Spectrum
A comprehensive evaluation with scheduled follow-ups. In the initial visit, core nutrition problems are identified, with recommendations provided initially and at follow-up. Behavior tracking and outside lab testing may be warranted to gather further information. Our goal is to identify underlying causes of limited food intake, underweight or malnutrition, vitamins/minerals deficiencies, foods that affect behavior problems, and food-medication interactions, and ultimately move the client towards a more well-rounded food and nutrient intake.
ADHD
A complete evaluation to identify problematic areas of nutrition that affect behavior. Recommendations and guidelines provided based on each individual.
Developmental Disabilities
Children with disabilities commonly experience nutrition problems, including feeding difficulties, underweight, overweight, constipation, tube feeding, and others. We always consider the child’s diagnosis, growth history, feeding history, current therapies, schedule, etc. when completing our evaluation and recommendations. Recognizing that parents and caregivers often have a busy schedule, we are available for in-home visits and school meetings to ensure adequate nutritional support.
